From businesses to schools, churches to parents, charities to civic organizations, there is much discussion about the lack of essential skills, or soft skills, in the world today. In response, many organizations are beginning to focus on providing tools and resources to help individuals improve these critical skills. However, much of what is being done is happening in silos.

Launching in August 2018, in conjunction with the school year, Capable brings individuals together to create a common language and better connect our community with key resources. An enhanced focus on these critical skills will help individuals in Cape Girardeau County be more prepared for life and work.

Campaign Goals

• Define and create common language around essential skills throughout our region
• Improve the state of essential skills in the community
• Improve employers’ image of our regional workforce
