Congratulations on having a reason to host a ribbon cutting! Whether you are just opening your doors or expanding to a new location, it’s a very exciting time for your business or organization. The Cape Chamber is truly honored to be a part of your big day.

Ribbon Cutting ceremonies are the perfect way to celebrate a:

• Anniversary

• Grand opening
• Expansion
• New location

• New ownership

• Rebrand

• Relocation

• Addition of services

At the Cape Chamber, we are happy to help you coordinate your Ribbon Cutting or groundbreaking ceremony. Please keep the following in mind:

Advanced notice: We recommend scheduling your Ribbon Cutting at least two weeks in advance, preferably longer, to ensure that the Chamber and City can attend.

Time: Ribbon Cuttings are scheduled Monday-Friday between the hours of 9am-4pm. This is the best time as night time and weekend events are difficult because of other professional/personal commitments. Additionally, this time frame ensures that someone at the Chamber can attend.

Coordinating with the City: The Chamber will invite officials to attend.

Supplies: The Chamber will bring a photographer, ceremonial scissors and a large ribbon for you to cut. People often ask if our scissors actually cut. And yes, they certainly do!

Marketing and Promotion: The Chamber will assist you in promoting your Ribbon Cutting by sharing information about your event with the entire Cape Chamber membership in the Monday Morning Memo. In addition, we will send a direct invitation to Cape Chamber Ambassadors as well as local media. Your event can be open to the public or small and intimate with only invited guest. That’s entirely up to you! They work well either way - just let us know what you would like.

Preparing for your Ribbon Cutting:

• While we will invite local media to your Ribbon Cutting, a great way to get added promotion is by writing and issuing a press release.

• The Chamber will post your Ribbon Cutting on our website as a Chamber event. This will ensure that we promote it via our website and weekly newsletters.

• If you chose, you can share the event on social media, the homepage of your website and email blasts.

• The best spot to cut the ribbon is in front of an elevated sign, door or wall that has your company name or logo. This makes for a great photo opportunity.

• Think about who you would like to be in the photo with you. The business owner or manager will be the person who actually holds the scissors and cuts the ribbon. You may also want to include family members, staff and Chamber members. Chamber Ambassadors will be in attendance to hold the ribbon so your staff can be front and center.

• You may want to have a short speech prepared to say to your guests before you cut the ribbon. This is not a requirement, but it can be a nice touch.

• If requested, we would be happy to send you digital copies of the photos from your event.

• Some businesses like to provide refreshments and a tour for their guests. This is not a requirement, but again, it can be a nice touch. Should you choose to provide refreshments, consider the time of day - if morning or afternoon, we suggest keeping it light, as many folks will need to head back to the office.

Remember, the Cape Chamber is here to help you along the way! Please fill out the form below to schedule your ribbon cutting or groundbreaking.
