Neighbors, families, and local businesses gathered at Capaha Park on Saturday, October 3, for the 2026 Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Cape Girardeau. Together, participants and teams raised more than $56,000 to support Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. The Alzheimer’s Association thanks every walker, team captain, and volunteer who turned out to honor loved ones and stand with families facing the disease. Teams from senior living communities, local businesses, and families walked side by side, and their efforts made the day possible. The Association also thanks the local sponsors whose generosity supports the Walk: Ozarc Gas, The Lutheran Home, Crystal Heating and Cooling, Proctor & Gamble, Saint Francis Healthcare, Comfort Keepers, Medicenter Pharmacy, The Chateau Girardeau, Newbridge Retirement Community, The Villas of Jackson, Americare Senior Living, and Association for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities. Edward Jones is the National Presenting Sponsor of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. “Every person that came out to walk, and every donation, is making a difference in the world of Alzheimer’s and dementia care and research. I am so grateful for the amazing Walk Committee, and everyone who came out to support.” Said Walk Manager, Maddie Erwin. The Walk is not over yet. Donations to the 2026 Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Cape Girardeau are accepted through the end of the year. Gifts can be made at alz.org/CapeMOWalk, and photos from the day are available on the event page.
