Back to School (Adult Edition)

Even if your classroom days are long behind you, late August has a way of resetting the entire community. Yellow buses are back on the road, Friday night football lights are turning on, and the energy across town shifts almost overnight.

You don’t have to be a student to feel the rhythm of a new school year. The calendar flips, the lazy summer pace evaporates, and whether you planned on it or not, you’re suddenly participating in the adult back-to-school ritual:

  • The Desk Refresh: You don't need a three-ring binder, but buying a fresh notebook and a good pack of pens suddenly feels essential to getting your life organized.
  • The Commute Adjustment: Adding ten minutes to the morning drive because school zones, crosswalks, and drop-off lines have officially resumed control of the roads.
  • The Routine Rebuild: Saying goodbye to the relaxed summer mindset and mentally preparing for a fall calendar packed with meetings, projects, and weekend community events.
  • The Wardrobe Standoff: Pulling out a favorite light jacket or long-sleeved layer on a cool morning, only to remember by 2:00 PM that it’s still going to be 85 and humid another 4-6 weeks.

There’s something undeniably motivating about the "fresh semester" feeling. Take advantage of the clean slate, lean into the momentum of the season, and enjoy the start of a great fall. I hope everyone has a great first day back to school!
