SEMO Hosts Paying for College Workshops

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO – Southeast Missouri State University will host three Paying for College Workshops across the region in January 2026, offering guidance and face-to-face support for navigating the cost of higher education. These free workshops are open to high school seniors, transfer students and their families, and provide information on financial aid and help planning a successful college journey.

“At SEMO, we believe every student deserves an affordable college degree,” said Lenell Hahn, assistant vice president of enrollment management and admissions. “Our Paying for College Workshops assist students and their families with creating the foundation for their success throughout their college experience.”

Workshops are from 5–7:30 p.m. on each of the following dates.

  • Tuesday, January 20, 2026 – Kennett Regional Campus
  • Wednesday, January 21, 2026 – Sikeston Regional Campus
  • Thursday, January 22, 2026 – Cape Girardeau Main Campus
Each workshop includes a complimentary dinner for all attendees, an optional financial aid presentation and the opportunity for one-on-one time with a college professional who can answer questions and help participants explore funding options including scholarships, grants and loans. SEMO admissions counselors will be available throughout the evening to provide personalized FAFSA guidance.

The workshop is designed to be flexible so attendees may stay for the full program or drop in at any time to get FAFSA assistance or other financial support before heading out. In addition to SEMO’s scholarship programs, which automatically assess students for institutional scholarships and award aid to approximately 85% of students with no additional application required, any student who completes their FAFSA by February 1, 2026, whether at a SEMO event or independently, will be entered to win one of ten $1,000 scholarships.

By providing hands-on support and expert insight, SEMO continues to champion pathways that make higher education attainable and achievable for all students. Prospective students are encouraged to register early as space is limited. Register for one of SEMO’s Paying for College workshops at visit.semoadmissions.org.
