Bedell Performance Hall GREASE is the word! America’s favorite musical returns to the River Campus to kick off the 25-26 season. Based on the iconic film of the same name, audiences are invited to travel back in time to the late 1950s and join the spirited students of Rydell High for an unforgettable evening of romance and rebellious fun. After spending a hopelessly devoted summer with Sandy Dumbrowski, the new girl in town, Danny Zuko’s world is thrown upside down when Sandy appears at Rydell High on the first day of school. What follows is a rock n’ roll celebration of growin’ up, cruisin’ with friends and goin’ steady. “It’s been 13 years since our last production of “Grease,” which broke box office records at the time, and this production will showcase the extraordinary talents of our students who come from across the United States to train here before launching their careers in the industry,” said Dr. Kenneth L. Stilson, chair of Dobbins Conservatory. The show features legendary music, including the Academy Award nominated song, “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” as well as “Grease” and “You’re the One That I Want,” both of which were #1 hits on the Billboard Top 100 list. These songs will be heard in addition to the Jacobs/Casey songs made famous by the original stage production including “Summer Nights,” “Greased Lightnin’,” “Magic Changes,” and “We Go Together.” Through world-renowned music and high-energy choreography, Grease celebrates 1950s youth culture, rebellion, love, and special bonds between friends. Throw your mittens around your kittens and hand jive the night away, with the show that will make you want to sing along, dance in your seats, and stand up and shout, ‘A-wop-bop-a-loo-bop, a-wop-bam-boom’! Dust off your leather jackets, pull up your bobby-socks, and take a trip to a simpler time with Grease the Musical. Stilson reminds everyone to “get their tickets early,” as this show is on target to once again break box office records. From the swagger of the Burger Palace Boys to the swank of the Pink Ladies, this musical is a heartwarming reminder that while times may change, the simple joys and challenges of youth are something we all share. Tickets may be purchased by contacting the River Campus Box Office, located in the Cultural Arts Center, 518 S. Fountain St., weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., by calling (573) 651-2265, or online at RiverCampus.org.
