SEMO REDI Launches Business Startup Checklists to Help Entrepreneurs Navigate Local Requirements

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri Regional Economic Development, Inc. (SEMO REDI) has launched a series of Business Startup Checklists designed to help entrepreneurs navigate city-specific requirements in Cape Girardeau, Jackson and Scott City.
Unlike general startup guides, these checklists focus on helping new business owners understand and complete essential local steps such as permitting, zoning, utility setup and registering with city departments. Each checklist includes practical steps, key contacts, and links to local resources to make the process more approachable and transparent.
“One of the biggest challenges for new entrepreneurs is understanding how to meet local requirements,” said Lucas Presson, Director of Business Growth and Innovation at SEMO REDI. “These checklists are meant to take some of the guesswork out of that process by showing exactly what needs to be done—and who to talk to—in each community.”
