Mercy Hospital Southeast Names New Chief Medical Officer

Mercy Hospital Southeast welcomes a new chief medical officer, Dr. Naresh Agarwal. Dr. Agarwal joins Mercy with an impressive background in health care leadership, including most recently serving as the associate chief medical officer of primary care with Intermountain Healthcare in Utah. “Dr. Agarwal comes to Mercy Southeast with a strong history of frontline leadership development and a commitment to furthering quality, affordable health care for those we are privileged to serve,” said Ryan Geib, Mercy Southeast president. “As a Mercy leader, Dr. Agarwal will be an advocate for physician and advanced practice providers across our community and help lead us to a healthier, more connected future.” Dr. Agarwal’s focus is on continuing to build a well-rounded team of physicians and advanced practice providers who are committed to providing exceptional care. “I believe in embracing change and motivating teams and clinicians to develop a model health system to deliver excellent, patient-centered health care that’s accessible to all,” Dr. Agarwal said. “I am pleased to become part of the Mercy Southeast community and embrace southeast Missouri as my new home.” In Utah, Dr. Agarwal oversaw more than 1,000 physicians and advanced practice providers across 134 primary care practices, 26 urgent care clinics, five pediatric practices and six live well centers. Dr. Agarwal earned his bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery and a medical degree in internal medicine from Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi, India. He also holds an MBA from the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP).
