Cape school board votes to honor late coach with school renaming
Cape Girardeau Public Schools (CGPS) will have a new name for its junior high school this year. The CGPS Board voted unanimously last month to change the name of Central Junior High School to Terry W. Kitchen Central Junior High, honoring the late Terry W. Kitchen. Kitchen spent over four decades serving the school district as its most well-known and beloved advocate. He passed away in February of this year after a battle with cancer.

Coach Kitchen’s family was at the July 2019 CGPS Board Meeting to witness the vote and signing of the resolution. The school district will be holding a renaming ceremony later this coming fall.
