The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri is looking for interns for the Fall 2017 semester. Eligible applicants must be energetic, interested in non-profits and the arts, and have excellent writing and social skills. Interns will be responsible for participating in every aspect of running a gallery, including hanging shows, deinstallation of shows, writing press releases, designing images, and coordinating the Arts Council’s social media presence.

Job description:

  • Provides support for special projects the Arts Council undertakes
  • Prepares press releases and information for media sources
  • Practices the utmost discretion in handling confidential materials and information
  • Reports to and communicates with the Director and Gallery Manager
  • Develops and maintains cost-effective ways to achieve maximum media exposure
  • Assists in maintaining website and social media
  • Become proficient with online newsletter software, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of and interest in the arts
  • Experience working with volunteers
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds
