Sikeston, MO (February 21, 2019)–Gary Elders, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Southeast Missouri Food Bank, recently announced that Joseph Keys, Chief Advancement Officer of SEMO Food Bank, will succeed Karen Green as Chief Executive Officer upon her retirement.

The announcement was made at a luncheon attended by the Board of Directors and Staff. Gary Elders, Chairman of the Board, made the announcement welcoming Joey and said, “We are moving on to more great years to come and working together to make that happen.” Keys will become CEO effective March 1 with Green staying for a time as a consultant.

“I want to thank Karen for the solid foundation built under her leadership. I have learned much from the Staff and Board over the past year as CAO and look forward to continued learning and growing together,” Keys told the group.

Keys brings a degree in Mass Communications and Marketing Management from Southeast Missouri State University. Previous employment includes Regional Director of the local Better Business Bureau and over seven years in county government administration.

“I am confident that SEMO Food Bank is in excellent hands with the appointment of Joey as CEO,” said Green. “Under his leadership, the Food Bank will continue to bring hunger relief to Southeast Missourians for years to come.”

JEFFERSON CITY — Leadership Missouri, the premier leadership development program offered by the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is designed to enhance the leadership skills of current and emerging leaders through an in-depth exploration of the state’s economic, political, and social issues. Among this year’s participants is Michele Litzelfelner, the Member Relationship Manager at the Cape Chamber.

Leadership Missouri consists of seven monthly, two-day sessions held in different regions of the state. While travelling to several Missouri communities and networking with the state’s top government, business and non-profit leaders, participants will gain a better understanding of the diverse industries and people that make up Missouri’s economy.

The 2019 Leadership Missouri program kicks off on April 9 in Jefferson City. The first segment includes a reception at the Governor’s Mansion that will bring together Leadership Missouri alumni to welcome the 2019 class.

“Since its inception in 1990, Leadership Missouri has helped hundreds of Missourians to become better leaders,” said Daniel P. Mehan, Missouri Chamber President and CEO. “Leadership Missouri graduates are serving all across our state as top business executives and managers, as well as in community and political leadership roles. The type of education and training provided in Leadership Missouri is exactly what we need going forward if we hope to succeed in realizing our vision for Missouri 2030.”

You can learn more and apply for the 2020 class at mochamber.com/leadershipmissouri.
