Cape Rock Park provides a wonderful overlook of the Mississippi River and reminds visitors of Cape's founding fathers Ensign Giradot and Louis Lorimier.  
  Cape's Rose Garden is located in Capaha Park and is a great place to stop and smell the roses.
 
  Redhawks' Basketball at the Show Me Center, come watch the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks battle it out for the Ohio Valley Conference title and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.  
  Redhawks' Football At Houck Stadium, watch as the Southeast Missouri Redhawks football team battles it out on the gridiron against such regional foes as Southern Illinois, Murray State and others.
 
 
Redhawks' Baseball At Capaha Park, watch as the Southeast Missouri Redhawks baseball team battles for supremacy in the Ohio Valley Conference and a berth in the College World Series.  
  The Oldest Amateur Baseball Team In America, Summers in Capaha Park are filled with baseball and the premier team is the Cape Girardeau Capahas who have been playing baseball for more than 100 years. The Capahas have been playing since 1894.
 
  Freedom Corner, at the southeast corner of Capaha Park in Cape is a must see.  
  Trail of Tears State Park is 10 miles north of Cape Girardeau and is a reminder of the early 1800s forced march of the Cherokee Indians. The Park has numerous trails through beautiful forests in the Mississippi River hills, camping areas, and a small lake for swimming and fishing.
 
  Scenic Overlook At Trail of Tears State Park. This is just one of many great vistas provided at Trail of Tears State Park. It is truly one of Missouri's beautiful parks, don't miss it.  
  Bollinger Mill State Historic Site and Burfordville Covered Bridge on the Whitewater River. It is a grist mill that was built in the 1860s, the covered bridge is the oldest covered bridge remaining in Missouri. The park is located west of Cape Girardeau in Cape Girardeau County.
 
  The Glenn House, in downtown Cape Girardeau is a glimpse at Cape's past.  
  Fort D a historical fort remaining from the Civil War when Cape was guarded by four forts. Cape is loaded with Civil War history, General Grant had his headquarters in what is now Port Cape Girardeau, a downtown restaurant.
 
  Cape Girardeau County Park North is located north of Highway 61 and currently features one lake for fishing, several picnic shelters, the Southeast region headquarters for the Missouri Department of Conservation and several trails for hiking and strolling. It will be the site for a Missouri Department of Conservation Campus that will attract 100,000 visitors each year.  
  Lake Girardeau in Southwest Cape Girardeau County near Crump is loaded with largemouth bass. Each year anglers at the lake come away with 8-pound bass.
 
  Old St. Vincent's Church, is another historical and spiritual must see for visitors and residents of Cape. The church dates back to the 1850s and mass is still held there every Sunday.  
  Apple Creek State Forest is located in the northeastern tip of Cape Girardeau County and boasts a beautiful forest with trails, a great spot for anglers to fish on Apple Creek or access the Mississippi River via Apple Creek, and a shooting range.
 
 
Cape LaCroix Recreational Trail is very popular among Cape residents who use the trail for walking, jogging and biking. The trail links the Osage Center with Arena and Shawnee parks. This part of the trail goes through the Cape Woods Conservation Area.
 
 
Cape Woods Conservation Area located inside Cape Girardeau's city limits is a natural wonder every season of the year.
 
 
Old Plantation Access on the Whitewater River is a great area for anglers and nature lovers. The Whitewater River is mostly clear here and has numerous fish with Smallmouth bass being the most sought after.
 
  Capaha Lagoon in Capaha Park is just one of many attractions this centrally located park has to keep visitors coming.
 
 
The Maintz Wildlife Area is a place where hunters, anglers, naturalists and wildlife all come together. The area has several ponds, a creek, an archery range and is a popular spot for horseback riding.
