GOALS
Membership Value: The Chamber will annually review the business plan in September to determine relevancy of all operations of the organization. The business plan will annually add at least one initiative that enhances membership value and will strongly consider programs for revision or elimination that no longer provide a return on investment. The operating budget will be supported by a minimum of 65% non-dues revenue. To ensure members receive a competitively priced affiliation cost, the organization will implement a new membership investment schedule by July 1, 2013. Achievement of this goal enables the organization to be affordable and innovative for the membership.
Advocacy: The Chamber will retain a legislative professional to assist staff in federal, state, and local policy programming, communications strategy, and advocacy efforts by January 1, 2014. Achievement of this goal promotes a strong voice for business, a better business climate, and allows the organization to advocate more effectively on behalf of the membership.
Entrepreneurship Development: The Chamber will be the lead voice through the Business Development Foundation to establish an effective and nimble entrepreneurship support system by July 1, 2012. The system developed will provide support and opportunity for our region’s innovators and individuals desiring to enter America’s free enterprise system. Achievement of this goal encourages great business innovation and growth for the membership.
Infrastructure: The Chamber, in partnership with the Missouri Transportation Alliance (MTA), will be a leader in finding realistic solutions regarding Missouri’s infrastructure challenges. The Chamber will host a regional transportation summit by December 31, 2012 to engage our membership and regional leaders in developing solutions. Achievement of this goal facilitates an efficient transportation system enabling our membership to mobilize people and product.
Technology: The Chamber will explore technology system enhancements for internal operations by July 1, 2012. These include but are not limited to: a new membership database, website and financial interface, communications platform (internal and external), facility improvements to incorporate virtual features, and determination of social media policy and presence. Achievement of this goal allows the organization to streamline operations and improve utilization of critical and timely information benefitting the membership.
